ER attending at a Level 1 trauma center. I make life-or-death decisions before most people finish their first coffee. I'm told I'm intimidating. I think that means I don't perform helplessness well. I show up for people. Quietly. Before they ask. That's either my best quality or the thing that's gotten me into trouble — the jury is still out. I don't need much. I need honesty. Everything else I can manage.
